Mentorship & outcomes. Graduate student mentorship has been developed for rigorous training and timely degree completion; current Ph.D. trainees include A. Linden, M. Ebrahimian, and Joshua Asare, with advanced candidates H. Raza and M. Reed, alongside M.Sc. students P. Jackson and S. Quick — all anticipated to graduate in late 2026. The program's commitment to high-value professional placement is demonstrated by its alumni: 4 Ph.D. and 1 M.Sc. students have successfully graduated during this cycle, including M. Bahadorani (Spring 2026), M. Nasiri (Summer 2026), J. Guerrero (Fall 2024; currently a Postdoc at Montana State), and S. Ghimire (Fall 2023; currently Laboratory Manager at NC A&T).
Undergraduate training has been deeply embedded into the lab's core molecular engineering workflows, engaging students in hands-on research. Past undergraduate trainees include L. Adjei, S. Allen, J. Anderson, M. Barclay, D. Baines, B. Bizzell, K. Dixon, J. Fisher, L. Holt, T.V. James, M. Johnson, K. Joseph, A. Omotosho, N. Rucker, T. Scott, N. Williamson, and E. Woods-Gresham at NC A&T. This rigorous preparation has driven elite placements, notably G. Ruschman (NIH OxCam Scholar at the University of Cambridge) and S. Shah (Park Scholar at NC State). To cultivate an early-stage STEM pipeline, the PI extended this mentorship to high school students; active trainee Amy Yesolvaj has already contributed as a co-author on two manuscripts in preparation. Program alumni have transitioned to competitive institutions, including J. Mehta (Campbell University School of Medicine), H. Zhang (Columbia), C. Weist (NC A&T), M. Karimoddini (New York School of Visual Arts), and Y. Johri (co-author on one conference presentation).
